The Funeral
Axl Le
From Axl Le:
"The original intention of this work was to commemorate my grandfather that had passed away. I was unable to attend his funeral, which made me grieve for a long time. But it also made me think: Since I have not been able to attend the funeral of my grandfather, does it mean that he still exists in my heart and is alive somewhere in the universe in a way?"
As a poignant story about the vastness of space and death, we wanted to celebrate the scale and drama. There were obvious clichés of darkness to avoid and we preferred to focus on the adventure of travel and transition, albeit with a hint of lonely trepidation. Moments of silence were used to punctuate the outer space environment and to allow moments of contemplation in the story.
