‘Grassroots’ is a short film following the trials and tribulations of a man on the bench. Watch as an eager Baz turns up every weekend to play Sunday League football with his mates. There’s just one problem - he’s not very good. Will this loveable sub ever get the nod? Or will he keep that bench warm forever?
The project revolves around a soundtrack that captures the essence of the 90s UK garage scene, complete with MC chatter. The more chaotic Baz’s life becomes, the more the track grows in intensity and draws ever closer toward the climactic ending.
For an authentic touch, the ambient sounds of a Sunday league football field were recorded binaurally in East London, capturing a real sense of grassroots football. Additionally, real life pub banter of a 5-a-side football team was painstakingly recorded to maintain a true to life feel. Lead voiceover recorded by our very own Chris Didlick and the lads chatter by the main gang of Ritzy animation studio.
