We used traditional Japanese instrumentation, predominantly taiko drums, to establish the opening scenes with moody flourishes. As we swim further into the underwater domain the drums pick up and augment the climactic drama with powerful, impactful rhythms. Sound design is heavily influenced by popular anime and classic kung fu films. We combined with cinematic elements to give weight and depth to the action.
